Is FiltraZen ClearFlow Independently Tested? – Lab Results

ClearFlow Knowledge Series · Article 05 of 05

The test conditions behind the published performance figures.

A percentage without context is not enough. Useful performance claims explain what was measured, the conditions used, and whether the complete product or only a single ingredient was tested.

The short answer

Yes. ClearFlow has been independently laboratory tested for free chlorine reduction under controlled conditions of about 1.2 ppm free chlorine, 6.2 L/min flow and 35 psi pressure, achieving up to 98% free chlorine reduction. Flow characteristics have also been independently tested by IAPMO R&T Lab.

Up to 98%free chlorine reduction in independent laboratory testing
4 stagessediment, ACF, calcium sulfite and KDF-55
~6.2 L/minrecorded throughout long-term testing

Why testing matters

Shower-filter marketing often uses large percentage claims without explaining the test method. The conditions matter because chlorine concentration, flow, pressure, temperature and cartridge age can all change performance.

How free chlorine reduction was tested

ClearFlow was evaluated under controlled laboratory conditions, with chlorine measured before and after water passed through the complete filter.

Test condition Approximate value
Free chlorine concentration 1.2 ppm
Flow rate 6.2 L/min
Pressure 35 psi (about 240 kPa)
Result: up to 98% free chlorine reduction by the complete ClearFlow filtration system under the specified laboratory conditions.

Why the conditions matter

"Up to 98%" describes the maximum reduction recorded under the stated test conditions. It is not a guarantee that every household will measure the same result. Home performance varies with the incoming water and how the product is used.

Independent flow testing

ClearFlow's flow characteristics have also been independently tested by IAPMO R&T Lab. Separately, long-term testing recorded approximately 6.2 L/min throughout the test period.

How to read any shower-filter claim

  1. What was measured? Free chlorine, chloramine, sediment and hardness are different.
  2. Under what conditions? Look for concentration, flow rate, pressure and ideally temperature.
  3. Who performed the test? Independent testing adds useful separation from the seller's own marketing.
  4. What was tested? The complete product matters more than a claim about one raw ingredient.
  5. Is it an “up to” result? That wording signals a maximum observed result rather than a guaranteed minimum.

Frequently asked questions

Is FiltraZen ClearFlow independently tested?

Yes. ClearFlow was independently laboratory tested for free chlorine reduction, and its flow characteristics were independently tested by IAPMO R&T Lab.

What were the chlorine test conditions?

Approximately 1.2 ppm free chlorine, 6.2 L/min flow and 35 psi pressure, with chlorine measured before and after filtration.

Does the 98% figure apply to chloramine?

No. The up to 98% result refers to free chlorine. Chloramine performance may differ.

Will I get exactly 98% at home?

Not necessarily. It is the maximum laboratory result under specified conditions. Household results vary with water quality, chlorine concentration, temperature, pressure, flow and cartridge condition.

More from the ClearFlow Knowledge Series

Testing & performance disclaimer. ClearFlow has been evaluated through laboratory testing under controlled conditions. Reported performance figures may vary with water quality, chlorine concentration, temperature, pressure, flow rate, cartridge age and other factors. The up to 98% free-chlorine reduction figure represents a maximum laboratory result under the specified test conditions and is not a guarantee of the same reduction in every household or water supply.

ClearFlow is designed to reduce free chlorine and capture sediment and particulate matter. It is not a water softener and is not designed to remove hardness minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Chloramine performance may differ from free-chlorine performance.
